Exile Tibetans Go to Polls This September

Dharamshala, 30 June 2005– The primary elections to nominate candidates for the members of the Assembly of the Tibetan People’s Deputies (ATPD) will be held on 11 September and the Kalon Tripa on 22 December, the chief election commissioner of the Central TibetanAdministration, Tashi Phuntsok, was quoted as saying prior to a media conference later this evening.

The final round of elections for the Kalon Tripa and members of the ATPD will be held on 18 March 2006.

Currently, the Tibetans in exile are undergoing voter registration.
