
New Delhi, January 28: India’s capital Delhi wears a hurried look- the Tibetan hamlets in the city have witnessed an overwhelming number of Tibetan people who have converged from India, Nepal and Bhutan for the ‘Tibetan People’s Solidarity Campaign.’
Conforming with the resolutions arrived at during the 2nd Special general meeting convened under Article 59 of the Tibetan charter, the Kashag and the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile is jointly organising a 4-day mass solidarity campaign. This campaign (January 30 to February 2) aims to express sublime solidarity with the supreme sacrifices of the Tibetans inside Tibet while calling for urgent diplomatic intervention to end the crisis inside Tibet.
This massive campaign expects to draw over 5000 Tibetans from more than 50 different settlements and around 1500 Indian supporters, manned by 8 committees: an organizing committee (TPIE Speaker Penpa Tsering, Deputy Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Kalon Pema Choejor, Kalon Tsering Wangchuk, Kalon Gyari Dolma, Chithue Karma Chopel, Chithue Karma Yeshi and Chithue Jamyang Soepa) and 7 sub-committees.
In view of the preparations underway for the campaign, the organizing committee held a ‘General meeting’ at the Tibetan Samyeling settlement office today. The general meeting discussed various aspects of the 4-day campaign. Following the general meeting, the organizing committee members led an orientation program for the settlement officers and regional leaders at the TCV Day School. The leaders were apprised of the ground rules and the safety and security measures to ensure the successful implementation of the 4-day program.
