Brussels, 26 January: An exclusive screening of Wisdom of Happiness was held in Paris on Saturday, 24 January 2026, to a full house, bringing together a diverse audience for an afternoon of reflection, connection, and dialogue around the pursuit of a meaningful life.
Hosted at UGC Danton in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the quintessential neighbourhood of Paris’ left bank, the event welcomed guests from across cultural, academic, and professional backgrounds, all united by a shared curiosity about happiness, compassion, and inner well-being. The full capacity attendance of 300 seats underscored the strong public interest in the film’s themes and message.
In her opening remarks, Rigzin Genkhang, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, welcomed the audience and guests to what she described as a “special and intimate screening.” She highlighted the significance of the Year of Compassion, explaining that the event was part of a broader global series in reflection of His Holiness’s lifelong dedication to peace, compassion, and nonviolence.
Wisdom of Happiness invites viewers to explore happiness not as a fleeting emotion, but as a skill that can be cultivated through mindfulness, empathy, and ethical living. The screening resonated deeply with the Parisian audience, prompting moments of quiet reflection as well as visible emotional engagement throughout the film.
Following the screening, many attendees highlighted the relevance of its message in today’s fast-paced and often fragmented world, noting how the film offered both reassurance and practical wisdom.
This exclusive event was jointly organised by the Bureau du Tibet Paris and Ghoton Organising Committee as part of the global observance of the Year of Compassion, honouring His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday. In an effort to make the screening accessible to as many people as possible, tickets were made available at a subsidised price.
Representative Genkhang was joined at the event by her colleague Thupten Tsering, Coordinator of Bureau du Tibet Paris, and members of the Ghoton Organising Committee.
