
SALUGARA: The Department of Education, CTA has organised its 14th batch of Early Grade Reading (EGR) Workshop for Primary Teachers (PRTs) of Tibetan schools in North East states of India at Palden Sed-Gyued Institute of Buddhist Studies, Selugara, Siliguri, West Bengal from March 20-24, 2016 for the duration of five days.
This workshop is attended by 30 Primary Teachers from various Tibetan schools which are under administration of Central Tibetan School Administration (CTSA) and Sambhota Tibetan School Society (STSS). In addition, 4 monks from Palden Sed Gyued Institute of Buddhist Studies, Selugara have participated in the workshop. All the participants felt that the workshop is very effective and innovative. And they are taking very active participation in the workshop.
The participant teachers have realized that it is not only duty of language teachers to create a good reading habits among the students. Every subject teacher has equal responsibility to inculcate reading culture habits among the students in the school.
Dr. Latika Gupta, professor of Department of Education, Delhi University with Miss. Sonam Gangsang of Sambhota Kaliashpura as her interpreter is conducting the 5-day EGR workshop.
The Department of Education, CTA is that all the participants of the workshop will gain a lots from this EGR Workshop and they will put into practice whatever they have from this when they are back to their respective schools. This workshop is funded by USAID through The Tibet Fund, based at Dharamshala.
