Dharamshala: The Department of Education conducted a nine-day training on teaching methodologies in Science and Mathematics for Tibetan primary teachers at the college for higher Tibetan studies, Sarah, near Dharamsala. Twenty-two teachers from 22 primary schools administered under the Central Tibetan Schools Administration and Sambhota Tibetan School Administration attended the training.Venerable Karma Gelek Yuthok, secretary, department of education, inaugurated the training program on 14 July. Shailender Gupta, senior general manager (training and development), Tashi Dhondup, joint secretary of department of education, and Palmo, TCV Suja schoolteacher gave teaching techniques on Mathematics, while Druk Tsering, principal, TCV school at Selakui and Tenzin Dorjee, science teacher of CST Poanta, offered tips on teaching science. Besides, the participants also learned about special education of imparting education to disabled children from Ms. Nicola Tansley, an expert on special education. Jampel Dakpa, principal of College for Higher Tibetan Studies, spoke on the importance of inculcating morality and ethics to the children. Lobsang Monlam, founder of Monlam Tibetan font, introduced the teachers about Monlam script. Yoga teacher Balwan Singh of Kangra Yogpeeth Institute conducted yoga classes for the teachers during the training. Education Kalon Thupten Lungrik presented certificates to the teachers on the final day of the training on 22 July.
