
DHARAMSHALA: A six-day leadership training for Tibetan college students is currently underway at the College for Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarha near Dharamshala.
Over one hundred Tibetan college students from across India and Nepal are attending the training, organised by the Department of Education, Central Tibetan Administration.
Mr. Topgyal Tsering Zongkha, Secretary, Department of Education inaugurated the training this morning.
Addressing the gathering, the Secretary spoke on the dual responsibility of a Tibetan student, i.e, for career and for country. He urged the participants to make maximum utilization of the training to equip oneself with the latest skills and techniques to achieve success.
Ms. Chemi Tseyang, Joint Secretary of the department, gave the introductory remarks and the objectives of the workshop.
The 6-day workshop include rounds of talks from various notable speakers including Speaker Penpa Tsering of the Tibetan Parliament on topics ranging from the Middle Way Approach, Sino-Tibetan relations, Human Rights and Environmental exploitation in Tibet, Dolgyal, Sherig scholarship etc.
This workshop is a joint project of the department of Education, CTA and the Friedrich-Naumann Foundation, a public funded German institution. The project was earlier organised by the Tibetan Parliamentary and Policy Research Centre (TPPRC).
