
DHARAMSHALA: As part of the Central Tibetan Administration’s outreach counseling programme for students, the Department of Education is organising a three-day career counseling for Tibetan college students in Chandigarh from 11 -13 September.
Tibetan students from various colleges under Punjab University in Chandigarh and Lovely Professional University in Jalandhar are taking part in the programme, which is conducted by Mrs Donkar Wangmo (Chief Counsellor) and Ms Pema Norkyi (Asst. Counselor).
Topics for discussion during the programme include ‘importance of pursuing specializations in different fields of study’, ‘career and educational planning after graduation’, ‘DOE scholarship and its procedures’, ‘character education and effective study strategies’ ‘identity and identity crisis’, ‘central Tibetan Administration and staff recruitment procedure’, and ‘resume writing and how to face interviews’ etc.
The counselors will also update the students on some of the CTA policies and the latest developments at the Central Tibetan Administration.
Two assessment tests titled, “Career Interest Inventory” and “Multiple Intelligence Test” (for adults over 16) will be conducted to the students followed by individual counseling at the end of the program.
In the past, the Department of Education has provided workshops for Tibetan students studying in major cities and towns in India. Similar activities are conducted to Tibetan students studying in colleges located in southern India by the education department’s branch Guidance & Counseling Cell located at Mundgod.
