
VIRGINIA: Beginning May 4, 2015, the Representatives and Staff from 9 overseas missions of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) are attending a 10-day diplomacy training in Virginia, United States, organised by the Department of Information & International Relation (DIIR) in collaboration with its US partner. The Tibet House Trust, London funded the training with the assistance of local coordination from the Office of Tibet, Washington DC.
In her inaugural address, Kalon Dicki Chhoyang of DIIR expressed that her department hopes the training will impart the Tibetan foreign service staff new skills and broaden their horizon in the field of diplomacy. She also complimented the organisers for arranging an extremely impressive group of former senior diplomats and intellectuals from various backgrounds as resource persons.
The training covers topics ranging from Art of Negotiation and public diplomacy with foreign states and UN to recent trends in China, consular function for entities outside UN system, International relations, diplomacy over natural resources and human rights, defense and security, etc.
At the side of the training, the participant visited the Tibetan section of the Voice of America, Radio Free Asia, and to the International Campaign for Tibet and Capitol Area Tibetan Association.
