Dharamshala, 9 December 2005 – The Department of Information and International Relations of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) will launch the Arabic version of it’s official website (Tibet.net) on 10 December 2005 on the occasion of the International Human Rights day and the anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama being presented with the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989. We hope that the Arabic version of Tibet.net will serve as a window to the issue of Tibet for interested people in the Arabic-speaking world.
The Arabic version of Tibet.net provides information on Tibet and Tibetan community in exile and the Arabic translation of the statements, press releases and news flash of the CTA. The website is hosted at www.tibet.net/ar/
We are also happy to announce that the new design of English version of Tibet.net is now operational. The strength of the new design and format of Tibet.net lies in its rich and comprehensive archival material. We hope that the new design of Tibet.net will prove a handy and ready reference and resource for scholars and individuals who are interested in the issue of Tibet and the struggle of the Tibetan people for greater freedoms.
The new features include archival material on Sino-Tibet dialogue, the worldwide Tibet movement, environmental and developmental issues in Tibet, publications of Department of Information and International Relations and statements and press releases of the CTA. Tibet.net also provides links to official websites in six other languages – Tibetan, Chinese, Arabic, Spanish, Japanese and Russian.
