Dharamshala: On the occasion of World Water Day on 22 March 2026, the Tibetan Settlement Office of Dharamshala organised a river clean-up drive at Bhagsu from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM under the Clean Upper Dharamshala Programme.
The drive was led by Tempa Gyaltsen Zamlha, Deputy Director of the Tibet Policy Institute (CTA) and Tsering Yangzom, Managing Director of the Clean Upper Dharamshala Programme. The initiative witnessed active participation from local residents, Waste Warriors, and volunteers from the Tibetan community of Dharamshala.
Through dedicated teamwork, more than 30 sacks of waste materials—including plastic, bottles, and other debris—were collected from the riverbanks.
The Dharamshala Tibetan Settlement Office remains deeply committed to environmental protection and maintaining the cleanliness of the town, guided by the profound advice of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. As part of the celebrations marking His Holiness’s 90th Birthday this year, such mass clean-up initiatives continue to play an important role.
