Tibetan Career Centre introduces affordable Jawed Habib certified hairdressing training course in Dharamshala
DHARAMSHALA: The Tibetan Career Centre in McLeod Ganj is organising an affordable 3-month introductory Jawed Habib certified hairdressing course in Dharamshala. At the end of the training students will be eligible for jobs at top hairdressing salons around the country.
The training will commence during the week of May 20th, in two batches of 20 students each. The course will be held at the College for Higher Tibetan Studies in Sarah, located about 30 minutes away from McLeod Ganj.
The training program is part of a larger initiative of the Tibetan Career Centres, a joint initiative of TechnoServe and the CTA, to reduce unemployment among young Tibetans in exile. AshwathMuralidharan and Runit Jhanwar, who are coordinating the initiative on behalf of TechnoServe, strongly believe that such training programs are the key to helping Tibetan youth become more self-reliant.
“By giving Tibetan youth, especially those with little formal educational credentials, access to affordable and market-relevant skill training, information about career opportunities in the sector, and job placement support, we can create a sustainable source of income for them for years to
come,” they stated.
For a nominal fee of Rs. 10,000, Tibetan students can sign up for the course, which ordinarily costs over Rs. 50,000. The course fees includes bus transportation from Dharamshala to Sarah, and certification for those who successfully complete the course. The course will be taught by Ms. Karma
Yongdue, a former Jawed Habib hair stylist with over 5 years of experience in the profession. Ms.Yongdue aspires to conduct multiple additional such training programs in the months to come.
Due to high course demand and limited availability of seats, interested candidates should immediately contact Tenzin Dolker (8679628846) or Tenzin Kyizom (8679169253) at the Dharamshala Tibetan Career Centre and pay the course fees in order to reserve their place.
