
NEW DELHI: At the invitation of International Rakshabandhan Festival Celebration Committee which was a joint initiative of twenty five social and cultural organizations, Ven Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok, Deputy Speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile attended the event as a Guest of Honour and addressed the large gathering of people from different countries during the World Rakshabandhan Festival at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi on Wednesday, 17 August 2016.
Under the auspices and guidance of Shri Indresh Kumar, Akhil Bharatiya Karyakarini Sadasya, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the festival of such kind was able to be organized at a large scale. It was under his leadership that such joint efforts of various organizations has come together to be part of this grand festival known as World Rakshabandhan Festival (Festival of Human Values). In his speech, he said that Rakshabandhan is a celebration of ties within the humanity and with the nature. He even stated that the security band to each other vouching to protect them includes the nature such as trees & plant, mountains and lakes, etc.
The other dignitaries present during the day were Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Minister of Tourism & Culture; Shri Ajay Tamta, Minister of State of Textiles; Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi, Member of Parliament, Dr. Udit Raj, Member of Parliament; Shankaracharya’s of monasteries; Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswati from Parmarth Niketan Ashram; Ambassadors; High commissioner in India and spiritual leaders from diverse religious traditions in India.
Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok in his speech said that apart from promising to protect our sisters, we must also pledge to preserve our environment, safeguard our nation and preserve the rich culture on this auspicious day of World Rakshbabandan Festival.
