
Dharamshala: Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang attended the closing ceremony of the 26th Himalayan Festival on Sunday, organised by the Indo-Tibetan Friendship Association of Dharamshala to commemorate the conferment of the Nobel Peace Prize on His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Chief Guest Gandharva Rathore, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kangra; Dharamshala Mayor Omkar Nehria, ITFA President Ajit Nehria, ITFA advisor Ram Swaroop, Parliamentarian Dawa Tsering were among the distinguished guests present that day.
Deputy Speaker spoke on the special bond between the Himalayan and Tibetan people stemming from the centuries-old shared heritage of altruism, love, compassion, and non-violence. She highlighted the significance represented by the conferment of the Nobel Peace Prize on His Holiness the Dalai Lama, who is the embodiment of altruism, love, and compassion.
Deputy Speaker shared the pain of witnessing the awful sufferings of Tibetans inside of Tibet under the oppressive rule of China and recommended the ITFA make a collective effort to spread awareness of Tibet beyond cultural and traditional aspects. She urged the younger generation’s involvement in the activities of ITFA while reiterating the importance of having the youngster Indians and Tibetans carry on the legacy of the older generation members of the ITFA.
Finally, the Deputy Speaker lauded and thanked the organisers, participants, and sponsors of the Himalayan Festival for making valuable contributions to a good cause.
