Deputy Speaker attends All India Tibet Support Groups’ Conference

Dharamshala: Deputy Speaker
Dolma Gyari is attending the inaugural ceremony of a two-day conference
of All India Tibet Support Groups in Chandigarh, which began this
morning. The conference is being organised by India Tibet Coordination
Office based in New Delhi.
The deputy speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile will give an
overall briefing on the situation in Tibet and the dialogue process
between the Envoys of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Chinese
government.
She will also speak on the expectations from the Indian Tibet Support Groups.
During the conference, the working groups of Tibet Support Group
at the national and regional level will discuss action plans on
promoting awareness programs on Tibet in various Indian schools and
universities.
They will also deliberate on specific programs on seeking
support from Indian parliament members and political parties for the
Tibetan cause.
Later in the evening, the deputy speaker will leave Chandigarh for a five-day visit to Simla.
She will take part in the preparation of a function to
commemorate the 94th anniversary of the signing of Simla agreement of
1914, to be organised by the Trans Himalayan Parliamentary Forum on 3
July.
Speaker Karma Chophel and a group of members of Tibetan
Parliament, including Ven Beri Jigmey Wangyal, Ven Tse Ringpo, Sonam
Damdul, Dolker Lhamo and Dolma Tsering, will also attend the Simla
convention.
On 4 July, she will attend a discussion forum on Simla agreement at the History Department of Himachal Pradesh.
On the evening of 2 July, she will join a candle light
procession to be organised by the Simla chapter of the Tibetan
Solidarity Committee.
The deputy speaker will return to Dharamsala on 4 July.
