Dharamshala: As per an announcement received from the Department of Religion of the Central Tibetan Administration, all devotees attending the 32nd Kalachakra at Bodh Gaya, are requested to refrain from consuming non-vegetarian food and meat products during the entire duration of the event. It is an effort to make the 32nd Kalachakra purely vegetarian and slaughter free.
Furthermore, each and every Tibetan is requested to donate one rupee or dollar, in the currency of their respective country of residence at their local settlement office or at the Office of Tibet before 30th November, 2011. And as per the resolution passed in the 2nd session of the 15th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, the money procured from the donations will be used to embellish the face of the Buddha’s statue with gold paint and for a new robe for the statue. A grand offering will also be made in the form of foods and drinks to the thousands of devotees attending the historic 32nd Kalachakra from all over the world.
“Spiritual leaders and high reincarnated lamas of the four sects of Tibetan Buddhism as well as thousands of monks and followers of Buddhism from all over the world will be attending the Kalchakra. So this is a very sacred gathering at a sacred place for a sacred purpose. Hence, the donation is collected to obtain a collective good karma for all the Tibetans” said Mr Ngawang Choedak, the Secretary of the Department of Religion and Culture.
The 32nd Kalachakra will be held at Bodh Gaya from 31st December 2011 to 10th January, 2012. The Kalachakra is held for world peace and for the smooth flourish of Tibetan Buddhism. The Kalachakra will also pray for the people who have died in the recent floods and earthquakes in Sikkim, Japan, Turkey and around the world. The 32nd Kalachakra will put a special emphasis on the deteriorating situation inside Tibet and will pray for a quick reunification of Tibetans inside Tibet and outside Tibet.
