Dharamshala: The Department of Religion and Culture, Central Tibetan Administration, began its training on ‘Primary Teachings for Monastic Teachers’ this morning at the College for Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarah.
This maiden training on modern pedagogy methods for monastic teachers from 21 February to 30 March 2024 was held as per the resolution adopted during the 14th Tibetan Religious Conference in 2019.
Additional Secretary Kunga Gyaltsen from the Department of Religion and Culture presided over the inaugural ceremony of the training. In his address, the Additional Secretary underscored importance of this workshop and stressed the necessity of contemporary pedagogical methods in educating monastic students while upholding the traditional system of schooling.
Passang Tsering, the Principal of College for Higher Tibetan Studies Sarah, apprised the gathering of curriculums for the training which includes linguistic teaching, study of instruction strategies, child psychology, SEE Learning, and literature and literary teaching methods.
A total of 24 teachers from North India-based monasteries participated in the training.
