Dharamshala: The Department of Home, CTA, commences three-day household listing survey training from 1 to 3 March 2024 for the survey enumerators with an inaugural ceremony held today at Community hall of Ladakh Sonamling Settlement, Leh.
The inaugural ceremony was presided by Chief Representative Officer (CRO) Dhondup Tashi as Chief Guest, along with Joint Secretary Tashi Dickey from the Department of Home, trainers Saikat Ghosh and Badrinath Ganapathy from Sambodhi. And all the Camp leader and Jangthang Gowa. The inaugural program commenced with the lighting of the butter lamp and offering of scarf to the His Holiness Portrait by the chief guest.
Joint Secretary Tashi Dickey explained the significance of conducting the household listing survey, which aims to shape effective programs for the community’s welfare through the collection of essential data on the socio-economic status, health, education, and religious practices of the Tibetans. While noting the challenges of conducting a survey on this scale, she advised the enumerators to be undeterred from fulfilling the task and be patient with the respondents during the collection of responses. The enumerators were urge to maintain a calm disposition while conducting the filed survey in order to avoid any conflict or misunderstanding and also to ensure as much participation from the public as well. She concluded by expressing hope for the success of the training and urged the participants to utilise the opportunity well for their personal development as well.
The chief guest, CRO Dhondup Tashi in his opening address, introduced the household survey program and highlighted the significance of the survey in ensuring a better understanding of the Tibetan community in exile. He underscored the collective role of the enumerators and all the camp and Janthang leader to collaboration in achieving success of the survey. The program followed with a brief introduction of all the participants to foster a more interactive learning session. It was followed by the screening of a virtual address of the Home Secretary on the importance of the household listing survey before the gathering.
The training was attended by total of 21 enumerators from Ladakh & Janthang and two staff of CRO office and CRO. The training aims to educate and equip the enumerators for the upcoming household survey, which will aid in the planning and formulation of projects by the CTA for the overall development and progress of the Tibetan community in India and Nepal.
The Department of Home representative concluded the inaugural ceremony by delivering a vote of thanks to the donors and CRO, as well as all the individuals who have contributed in the realisation of this training program.
The Survey will be conducted between 4 to 19 March 2024 at Ladakh Sonamling and Janthang.
