DHARAMSHALA: The Department of Religion and Culture of the Central Tibetan Administration will host an annual general discussion on religion commencing from this year, according to a circular issued yesterday by the department.
The objective of the annual discussion is to foster the preservation and progression of Tibetan Buddhism, and to affirm harmonious relations between the different schools of Tibetan Buddhism and Bon religion, the circular said.
This year’s discussion entitled “Discussion amongst the four major schools of Tibetan Buddhism and Bon” will be held from 1 – 3 March 2015 at the Gyuto Tantric monastery near Dharamshala. The discussion will have one participant each from the monasteries having 50-100 monks/nuns, two participants from the monasteries having a strength of 101-500, three from those having 501-1000 and four from the monasteries having more than 1000 monks.
The participants are requested to submit their group representative name to the department on or before 30 January 2015. The participants are requested to report at the bus stop, Dharamshala on 28 February. A staff from the department will escort them thereafter.
