
DHARAMSHALA: The Kashag secretariat will present two staff of the Central Tibetan Administration with an award in recognition of their distinctive service in their respective departments. The two staff selected for the award are Mr Tsering Samdup, Joint Secretary at the Department of Education and Mr Dorje Tsering, Section officer and Head of Narthang Press at the Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR).
The award will be presented during the official 81st birthday celebration of His Holiness the Dalai Lama at Tsuglagkhang on 6 July 2016.
The award is an official recognition of the the exemplary work performed by individuals in their respective portfolios in the Central Tibetan Administration. It is also aimed at introducing these distinctive staff to the public, at the same time, to inspire passion and dedication among other staff of the Central Tibetan Administration.
Brief Biography of Mr Tsering Samdup:
Mr Tsering Samdup joined the Department of Education of the Central Tibetan Administration in the year 2000. He is currently serving as the Director of the education council and advisory committee of the education department.
In the past three years, he has performed significantly in his responsibilities, particularly with respect to providing training and workshops to teachers of Tibetan schools, organising inter-school dialectical debates, introducing innovative steps to boost academic interest in traditional Tibetan studies among students, facilitating the publication of research books authored by non-formal research students, etc.
He has also organised a major education conference in the last three years and has taken the responsibility of overseeing the establishment of 193 classroom libraries in 52 Tibetan schools across India and Nepal.
He is the chief editor of Tibetan textbooks of primary schools, which are aimed at bolstering traditional Tibetan education in the schools and has launched, under his guidance, a website bodyiglobjong.com to achieve the goal. He is also a pivotal figure in the weekend Tibetan language class which is being successfully held across Tibetan communities in North America.
Brief Biography of Mr Dorje Tsering:
Mr Dorje Tsering joined the Central Tibetan Administration in 1997 and is currently serving as the manager of Narthang Printing press in the Department of Information and International Relations.
He has performed distinctively in the last three years, overseeing the publication of more than 11 Lakh official documents and books of the Central Tibetan Administration and its various departments and autonomous bodies. Not just publication, he has further provided service in designing the formats and layouts of the printed materials and has also been indispensable as a handyman doing minor repairs during malfunction of the machines. He is applauded for his efficiency, particularly during the election of Sikyong and the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, for the timely printing of the ballot papers and important announcements.
Mr Dorje Tsering is generally regarded as a hard working staff, respectful of the seniors and someone who does his job with excellence.
