Dharamshala: Every year Tibetan students from the diaspora get enrolled in summer school camp program wherein the students are given education and exercises to learn Tibetan language, culture, music, history and basic teachings on Buddhism.
This year, 32 students have come from the US, Canada, Switzerland, France and Austria.
President Sangay addressed the students at Kashag Secretariat and briefed them about the Central Tibetan Administration and its various departments vis a vis roles played by each departments.
President also narrated about the present scenario of Tibetans in exile and how it has garnered success over the last 60 years which is unmatched by any other refugee community in the world.
“ We owe our achievement and success to none other than His Holiness the Dalai Lama therefore, you must always be grateful” said President Sangay.
President advised the students to preserve Tibet’s distinct culture, religion and language and safeguard the cultural heritage.
President further associated them about the issue of identity crisis and the struggles often faced by Tibetan children born and raised in overseas. He urged the students to form an amicable relation with students of other nationalities while at the same time remain cognizant about own spiritual and cultural roots.
Meanwhile, President also shared some of his personal experiences and the challenges he faced to achieve what he had achieved today.
The interaction of President Sangay and the summer camp students ended with Q/A session. President attended all the doubts and queries raised by the students.
Finally, President Sangay urged the students to excel in their respective fields not just for the sake of making a career but to contribute to the greater good of Tibet.
The program is organised by Centre for Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarah College for the month of July-August.
