Dharamshala: CTA President Dr Lobsang Sangay on Sunday congratulated Jacinda Ardern on her landslide re-election as New Zealand’s Prime Minister and said the ‘astounding victory’ reaffirmed her able and compassionate leadership of the people of New Zealand, adding that ‘the world needs more of such leaders’.
“On behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration and the Tibetan people, I extend my sincere congratulations to Your Excellency on your reelection as the Prime Minister of New Zealand,” CTA President wrote in the congratulatory message.
“The astounding victory reaffirms the confidence and support of the people of New Zealand to your leadership and the party. Your Excellency has led the country through challenging times with grit and compassion. The world needs more of such leaders.”
President Sangay thanked the New Zealand government for being “a kind host to His Holiness during his visits to the country” and hosting the President himself in 2017.
He added, “Because of the generosity of the people and the Government of New Zealand, a vibrant Tibetan community has flourished and has been able to call New Zealand their second home. We are also grateful for the unflinching support rendered by New Zealanders over the past many years to our cause.”
He hoped that new leadership will continue its longstanding support for Tibet and human rights issues around the world.
“Once again, my sincere congratulations and wishes on a successful tenure.”
