
DHARAMSHALA: A two-day conference to frame curriculum for class 11 and 12 commerce stream is currently underway at the Centre for Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarha. The conference is being organised by the Department of Education.
Teachers from Sambhota and TCV schools, Tibetan textbook authors and officials of education department including Mr Tsering Samdup, head of the education council, are taking part in the conference. The conference will discuss and deliberate on the syllabus and subject planning for commerce stream in Tibetan schools.
The conference is being held in accordance with the Basic Education Policy of the Central Tibetan Administration wherein, it stated that efforts should be made to gradually convert the medium of instruction in all Tibetan institutions of learning from the pre-primary up to the highest research study level, into Tibetan.
The Department of Education has consistently converted almost all the textbooks of major school subjects till class X into Tibetan. The process of formulating draft textbooks for class XI and XII have started in 2013. Once the process of drafting the textbooks are completed, it will be presented to the Kashag for its approval, the education department said in a statement.
