Committee Sets Courses for Fulbright Aspirants
Dharamsala 27 November: A Fulbright aspirant will now have to apply for a course out of a list of twenty-five pre-decided educational courses as per the requirements of the Tibetan administration.
This was decided by the high-level scholarship committee of the exile Tibetan administration which, in an announcement issued here, revealed this major change in the most craved scholarship under the department of education.
However, there has been no reduction in the number of scholarships as feared by many and the classification of the degree and non-degree scholarships has remained unchanged.
The full text of the announcement will be made available in official journals and a few non-official newspapers. It can be also be viewed online in the announcement section.
The applicants to the most coveted scholarship, according to their wish, could earlier choose their subjects and courses, as there were no fixed courses for them. The Tibetan administration has not been able to absorb Fulbright scholars whose aptitude and educational qualification does not fit into the limited sphere of the administration’s job requirements. Thus, the administration could not fulfill its objectives of Fulbright Scholarship
The committee, in order to yield the maximum benefit out of the annual Fulbright scholarship programme for the Tibetan administration and the community, has taken this major decision.
