Commemoration of the 46th National Uprising Day in Russia
Dharamsala 15 March, 2005: Moscow Regional Friends of Tibet Society organised a peaceful demonstration to commemorate the 46th Tibetan National Uprising Day in Moscow. The demonstration was held on March 10, 2005 from 1600 hrs.to 1800 hrs.in front of the Chinese Embassy in Moscow. The Prefecture of Western Zone Moscow city government has given the permission to hold the gathering.
The demonstrators demanded that China enter into negotiation with His Holiness the Dalai Lama to resolve the issue of Tibet peacefully. A minute’s silence was observed to pay tribute to those brave Tibetan men and women who laid their precious lives for Tibet. Mr.Tashi, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, gave a brief introductory speech and thanked the participants for their support and solidarity for the people of Tibet who are passing through a very difficult period of their history. He also thanked the Moscow city government for granting the permission to observe the day.
Then Mr.Tsedenbal Zorig, the son of late President of Mongolia, read the Statement of His Holiness the Dalai Lama on the occasion of 46th Tibetan National Uprising Day which was translated into Russian. The copies of the statement were distributed to the people.
Kalmyk Tibet Support Group also organised a meeting at 1200 hrs in a city hall in Elista to commemorate the 46th Tibetan National Uprising Day. TSG Chairwoman Mrs.Kookueva Antonina read the Statement of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. She urged the Kalmyk people to continue their support for Tibet. Under the guidance and active support of Mrs.Kookueva, the recently formed Kalmyk Students for a Free Tibet group is involved in educating the school children in Kalmykia about Tibet and Tibetans.
