
DHARAMSHALA: Mrs Chungdak Koren resigned as the member of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile from Europe due to health problems on 17 March. The Election Commission on 19 March announced the confirmation of Mr Tenzin Wangpo Tethong as the new MP from Europe.
In a statement after tendering her resignation to the Speaker, Chungdak Koren said: “I expressed my gratitude and pride of having served as the representative for the Tibetans living in Europe. However, due to the deterioration in my health condition I regret that I am unable to continue to carry out the many responsibilities of a Chitue.”
“During my tenure, I have enjoyed the support of the Tibetans living in Europe and the Tibetan communities. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to initiate and coordinate some major initiatives for Tibet in Europe,” she said.
In a statement on being designated as the new MP from Europe, Mr Tenzin Wangpo Tethong said: “I accept this appointment with pride and joy and call upon the Tibetans in Europe and our European friends to come up with frank opinions and innovative suggestions how I can effectively contribute to our common cause.”
