Dharamshala: Earlier today, Chorig Kalon of the Central Tibetan Administration, Ven Karma Gelek Yuthok offered his condolences over the demise of Supreme Patriarch Phra Yodkeo Maha Sangha Sudhammadhibodhi Ratana Maha Sangha Patimokkha His Holiness Maha Ngon Damrongboun who was also the President of the Central Lao Buddhist Fellowship Organization (CLBFO).
in the condolence letter, Kalon wrote: “On behalf of the Department of Religion and Culture, Central Tibetan Administration, India and on behalf of the entire Tibetan Buddhist community, I would like to convey our deepest condolences to the Buddhist Community and people of Lao PDR on passing away of their Supreme Patriarch”.
Memoralising the life-long dedication of Supreme Patriarch towards Buddhadharma, Kalon noted, ” For a Buddhist person or leader, that is truly a great achievement. We therefore sincerely appreciate the noble deeds of your late Supreme Patriarch and pray to the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha for swift and spontaneous fulfillment of his sacred wishes”.
His Holiness Maha-ngon Damrongboun was the fifth President of the Lao Buddhist Fellowship Organisation. He was appointed on December 17, 2015. He has observed 66 periods of Buddhist Lent and is widely recognised as the most revered of all monks in Laos.
He was born on February 10, 1931, in Nakala village, Songkhone district, Savannakhet province.
He was ordained as a novice in 1944 when he was 13 years old and became a monk on January 14, 1951.
