Sonamling, Ladakh: Kalon Ven Karma Gelek Yuthok, Department of Religion & Culture, CTA concluded his 11-day official visit to Ladakh this Saturday on a productive note.
As part of his final engagements, Kalon met with the President of Ladakh Buddhist Association Mr. P.T. Kunzang, President of Ladakh Gompa Association Ven Shedup Jampa and attended a Gala dinner organised jointly by Central Tibetan Administration and Chief Representative Office, Sonamling Tibetan Settlement in celebration of the new Union Territory status granted to Ladakh. Gyal P. Wangyal, Chief Executive Councilor, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council was the Chief guest at the event. Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, MP, GOI attended as the Guest of Honour.
During the course of his visit, Kalon visited Ruthok Lhundup Choling Monastery, Karma Dupgyud Choling Monastery, Bon Monastery, Thupten Dongak Shedup Chokorling, Mahe Monastery at Jangthang Sumdo, Himalayan monasteries located in Nubra valley, Alchi , Manqu, Sumda, Daktak, Spituk, Matho, Thiksay , Shey, Hemis & Phyang.
Accompanied by Chief Representative Officer, Sonamling Tibetan Settlement, Kalon also visited Tibetan settlements in Jangthang Sumdo, Samed, Hanley, Nyoma, Chummur, Kagshung, Goyul & Maque from 24 to 27 August.
On 23 August, he addressed the members of Sonamling Tibetan Settlement on the upcoming 3rd Special Meeting and gave brief insights into the two main agendas of the Special Meeting. He also answered queries from the audience.
