Dolanji: Kalon Karma Gelek Yuthok, Department of Religion and Culture of Central Tibetan Administration attended 20th Geshe Ceremony at Menriling Bon monastery, Dolanji on 10 March. Kalon was invited as the chief guest of the event by Geshe Ceremony Organizing Committee, Bon Monastery.
Kalon firstly paid greeting to Kyabje Menri Trizin Rinpoche at his residence and proceeded to monastery shrine to attend the morning ceremony where monks of the Menriling monastery offered good wishes and congratulated the newly graduated monks for receiving the Geshe Degree.
The main ceremony began in the afternoon in the presence of Kyabje Menri Trizin and Kyabje Ponlob Rinpoche and Chief guest Kalon Karma Gelek Yuthok. Kyabje Menri Trizin conferred Certificate of Doctor of Philosophy to the sixteen new Geshes which is followed with performing ritual ceremony by those new Geshes.
Kalon offered good wishes and white scarf to the new Geshes and addressed the gathering.
In his opening speech, Kalon Karma Gelek Yuthok paid hearty congratulations to the sixteen new Geshes who had successfully completed studies on Bon philosophy and received Geshe Degree from Kyabje Menri Trizin Rinpoche. Kalon said that they now have a responsibility to offer their services for the continued sustainability and smooth running of the monastery as well as to work towards promotion and preservation of Yungdrung Bon tradition.
The ceremony was also attended by Tibetan Parliament members Geshe Molam Tharchin and Bara Tsewang Tashi, Bonshe Tibetan settlement officer, President of Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement, Director of Sambota Tibetan School, students and the general public.
