The Department of Religion and Culture (DRC), Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) Dharamsala in collaboration with The College for Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarah is happy to announce the Winter Cultural Immersion Program exclusively for the young Tibetans enrolled in non-Tibetan schools, growing up in dominant host country’s culture. The program will be held in Dharamsala, the seat of Central Tibetan Administration. The WCIP aims to introduce Tibetan language, culture and make them closer to the larger Tibetan community.
Participants will gain a general understanding of their cultural heritage, unique tradition and Tibetan community in exile. They will also experience and realise the responsibility of younger generation of Tibet towards preservation of traditional cultural values and identity in the context of globalization. The WCIP program will offer academic work, language study, Social Emotional and Ethical (SEE) Learning, and cultural immersion incorporated by field trips to enable first-hand experience.
The DRC will facilitate the Program whereas IBD-CHTS, Sarah will provide teachers and lecturers for the program. Whole classes of the program will be taking in CHTS, Sarah campus except community tour and cultural site visit.
Program Duration: Three Weeks (Wednesday, December 21, 2022 to January 10, 2023)
Registration Deadline: December 12, 2022 Monday (This program will accept only 25-30 students on first-come first serve basis. Please apply immediately.)
Facility: Accommodation, Meals, Program fee and Tour expenses will be provided.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Tibetan students enrolled in VIII to XII Grade without Tibetan language as a school subject.
- Copy of applicant’s valid Green Book
- Copy of school ID card
Program course:
- Tibetan Language for Beginners and Intermediate
- Introduction to Tibetan Culture and Civilization
- Introduction of Basic Tibetan Buddhist Philosophy and Practices
- Tibetan cultural dance and song
- Mindfulness Meditation Course
- SEE Learning
Weekend Program:
- Visit Cultural institutions and Tibetan schools in Dharamsala
- Visit Tibetan settlements and monasteries in Tashi Jong, Bir and Chauntra.
