
KERALA: Mr. Karma Singe, the Chief Representative Officer of the southern Tibetan settlements based in Bangalore, visited Varkala town in Kerala state, where a major fire has destroyed several Tibetan shops.
The affected people of the Tibetan market ravaged by fire has requested the Department of Home of the Central Tibetan Administration for assistance following which the department dispatched the Chief Representative to the site to analyse the situation.
Mr. Karma Singe visited the town on 28 and 29 April, and met with the affected family members. He expressed his solidarity with the losses incurred by the families and probed the actual damage caused by the fire.
The Chief representative also visited the nearby Indian municipal offices, electric boards and requested prompt assistance and support towards the affected families. He also met with Kerala Chief Minister Shri. Oommen Chandy and the local district commissioner Mr. Biju Prabhakar seeking their help towards restoration of the destroyed Tibetan shops.
Mr. Singe thanked the alert citizens and passersby who have come to help the Tibetans during the fire outbreak particularly the staff at Shivagari Hindu temple.
