
HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh chief minister Sri Kiran Kumar Reddy and his colleagues assured support on the Tibet issue yesterday at a meeting between the chief minister and the south zone Tibetan Parliamentary delegation. Members of the Tibetan Parliament are on a month-long ‘Solidarity with Tibet’ lobby campaign all over India.
The south zone Tibetan Parliamentary delegation met Sri Kiran Kumar Reddy, chief minister of Andhra Pradesh and Sri Purushottam Rupala, MP and Vice-president of central executive, BJP yesterday.
Despite the ongoing political turmoil in the state, the chief minister and his colleagues met the Tibetan delegates. The Tibetan delegation briefed the chief minister and his colleagues on the critical situation inside Tibet and presented a memorandum asking for support on the issue of Tibet. Expressing concern for the situation in Tibet, the chief minister and his colleagues assured their support and said they will forward the memorandum to the central government for attention and action.
The Tibetan parliamentary delegation also visited the state headquarters of BJP. Sri G Kishan Reddy, BJP MLA and his colleauges reaffirmed BJP’s consistent commitment to the Tibetan cause and assured that the cause of Tibet is very close to their heart.
The delegation also met with the officials of the Telugu Desam Party. The party officials including Central Politburo Sri Yanamala Rama Krishnudu and Sri Kaluva Srinivaralu, General Secretary Sri Peddi Reddy, MLA Sri Bojala Gopal Reddy and Mrs. Sobha Numavath, President of TDP Women’s Committee held an hour-long interaction with the Tibetan delegation and jointly addressed over 20 media reporters expressing their support and solidarity. The Tibetan delegation offered flowers and paid tribute to the statue of late party leader N T Rama Rao.
