Dharamsala:
Mr Ngawang Phelgyal Gyechen was today sworn in as the new chief
justice commissioner of the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission. While,
Mr Ngawang Thupten took the oath of office as one the two justice
commissioners.They were nominated by His Holiness the Dalai
Lama and unanimously approved by the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile during
its eighth session.The oath of office was administered by His Holiness the Dalai Lama early this morning.

The
swearing-in ceremony, held at the office of His Holiness the Dalai
Lama, was attended by the speaker and deputy of the Tibetan Parliament,
members of the Kashag. The official ceremony of the
appointment of new justice commissioner was held at the Kashag
Secretariat after the oath-taking ceremony. Mr Ngawang Phelgyal Gyechen had served as justice commissioner since 15 September 2005 till his appointment to the new post.

Mr Ngawang Thupten was the former local justice commissioner at Dehradun.The
Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission, the highest judicial organ of the
Tibetan community in exile, was formally inaugurated, or established,
on 11 March 1992 in Gangchen Kyishong, Dharamsala, the headquarter of
the Central Tibetan Administration.
