Chairman of the ATPD, Kalon Tripa, Finnish Diplomat Inaugurate Home for Disabled

Dharamsala, 12 May: At a modest function here, Mr. Pema Jungney, the Chairman of the Assembly of the Tibetan People’s Deputies (ATPD), Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, the Kalon Tripa and Dr. Anne Ahonen, Counsellor at the Finnish Embassy in New Delhi, inaugurated the new campus of “Nyingtob Ling”, a home for handicapped Tibetan children near the Norbulingka Institute.
Ms. Ngawang Lhamo, a deputy of the ATPD, runs the home, which was started as a small hamlet in 1996. The name ” Nyingtob Ling”, which roughly translates into “home of the determined”, was given by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Representatives from the various non-governmental organisations were present at the inaugural function.
Mr. Pema Jungney, Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche and Dr. Ahonen spoke to the gathering of around hundred people.
Also present at the function were the Vice-Chairperson and members of the Tibetan assembly.
