Central Tibetan Schools Administration marks its founding anniversary

Dharamshala: The Central Tibetan Schools Administration (CTSA), established in 1961, celebrated its founding anniversary at the Central School for Tibetans (CST), Shimla, on 22 and 23 October 2005.
The chairman of the CTSA and the joint secretary of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Keshav Desiraju and Kalon for the education department of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), Thupten Lungrik were the chief guests at the anniversary.
The Deputy Commissioner of Shimla, S.K.B.S. Negi was the guest of honour.
Prior to the main function, the chief guests inaugurated the six newly built classrooms of the CST, Shimla.
At the function Incentive Award for Teachers 2004, under the CTSA were awarded to Venkateshwarlu, Principal of CST Gurupura, Hunsur in south India, Jigmey Ugyen, trained graduate teacher of CST Darjeeling in West Bengal, P.S. Badhoria, physical education teacher of CST Dalhousie in Himachal Pradesh and Pema Wangmo, primary teacher of CST Darjeeling in West Bengal.
S.P. Sharma and Tashi Tsering Zongpa, the recipient of the National Award for Teachers 2004 were also honoured at the function.
Addressing the public, the chief guest Keshav Desiraju said that the students should learn modern education taking Tibetan culture and
language as a root.
The education Kalon spoke on the purpose of establishing separate schools for the Tibetans in exile and the new education policy
implemented by the CTA.
On the second day students presented exhibition, calisthenics and march-past followed by the speeches of the Kalon and Dr. M.S. Verma,
Director of the CTSA.
Kalon spoke separately to the Tibetans in Shimla on the policies, democracy and the administration of the CTA under the present kashag.
