NEW DELHI: Brij Bhushan Tiwari, 72, an eminent socialist leader, veteran politician and a Rajya Sabha member (Indian Parliament member) and a staunch supporter of the Tibetan movement passed away of cardiac arrest this morning at Babu Jagjeevan Ram Hospital, Delhi. Brij Bhushan had taken oath as parliamentarian on Tuesday.

Brij Bhushan Tiwari is a 5 time Member of Parliament from the Samajwadi party. He was first elected to the Lok Sabha in 1977 and was elected twice to the Rajya Sabha since 2006.
He was also a member of the All Party Indian Parliamentary Forum for Tibet as well as the International Network of Parliamentarians for Tibet (INPAT).
He has attended the third and fifth World Parliamentarians’ Convention on Tibet (WPCT) in Washington and Rome respectively and was scheduled to participate in the upcoming WPCT meeting in Ottawa, Canada. He had attended the oath taking ceremony of present Kalon Tripa, Dr. Lobsang Sangay and also attended many conferences related to Tibet and Tibet cause.
The Central Tibetan Administration is deeply saddened by the sudden demise of Shri Brij Bhushan Tiwari, a time-tested friend of the Tibetan people and the Tibet cause.
Shri Brij Bhushan is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.
Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok MP, TPiE, Mr. Tenzin Norbu, Coordinator, India Tibet Coordination Office, representatives of Tibetan community from Majnu ka Tilla has gathered at Babu Jagjeevan Ram Hospital and at the head office of Samajwadi Party, 24 Copernicus Marg, to pay homage and condolence of the Tibetan People in memory of his unwavering support for the Tibet cause.
