Dharamshala: The Central Council of Tibetan Medicine (CCTM) held a two-day Special Meeting here in Dharamshala to chalk out future plans and courses of action to improve and galvanize the true potential of Sowa Rigpa.
Sikyong Penpa Tsering and Health Secretary Palden Dhondup attended the inaugural meeting which was attended by over 30 members of CCTM and presided over by the council’s chair sMenpa Tsering Tsamchoe and vice-chair Choelo Thar.
sMenpa Tsamchoe spoke on the current situation of CCTM and whether the council is performing in accordance with the established rules and regulations or not and an array of other issues.
Health Secretary spoke on the importance of having the council coexist and collab with other relevant organisations in order to enable the lengthy sustenance of the unique knowledge and practice of Sowa Rigpa.
Sikyong in his inaugural remarks reiterated the 16th Kashag’s endeavour to expand the plantation of medicinal plants considering the increasing number of graduating Sowa Rigpa practitioners every year. In addition, Sikyong spoke on the 16th Kashag’s plans and course of action in the coming years including strengthening tourism in monasteries populated settlements etc.
The primary agenda of the two-day meeting is to assess the working of Tibetan Medical Association as per guidelines, to review the number of medical practitioners and diagnostic clinics including a number of pharmacies, and to discuss the future status of Sowa Rigpa and chalk out resolutions for unforeseeable circumstances.
