Dharamshala: In light of the rapid spread of COVID-19 and the elderly being the most vulnerable ones in relation to others especially the elderly at old age homes, CTA’s Department of Home has directed a strict ban on the visitors’ entry in old age homes administered by the CTA.
In view of extraordinary risks faced by the elderly community, the elderly were educated on the importance of maintaining social distancing and other preventive measures such as wearing a mask at all times. Hand sanitizers are kept in every room/corner and the area within the OPH has been duly sanitized for disinfection. The elderly are routinely monitored by medical professionals for temperature and other health problems.
They have been well demonstrated in the maintenance of hand hygiene, use of PPE in addition to supplementing a healthy diet rich in Vit-C. In an effort to maintain a healthy environment for the elderly, caring for their mental well being besides physical health is among the priorities of the administration. The outbreak has not only posed a great challenge to physical health but has also penetrated the public psyche.
To maintain a healthy mind, the elderly members are broadcasted videos on H.H. the Dalai Lama’s teaching and other religious teachings along with entertainment and fun activities including games, traditional Tibetan circle dance (Gorshey) to lighten the mood within the OPH.
CTA Dharamshala extends it’s heartfelt gratitude to those who have made donations towards caring for the elderly living in Old People’s Homes administered by the CTA.
