Home Department’s Capacity-Building Workshop at Lugsam Tibetan Settlement |
Dharamshala: As a part of Socia-Economic Development Programme 2006-2008 funded by SOIR-IM, Sweden, the Home Department of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), organised a capacity-building workshop on solid waste management at Lugsam Tibetan settlement, Bylakupee, on 24 and 25 July 2006.
It was the first of a series of capacity building workshops to be carried out in five Tibetan settlements in South India by the Planning and Development section of the Home Department.
The two-day workshop in Bylakupee was conducted by Ugen Chaksam, Joint Secretary and Head of Planning & Development section, and Pema Tenzin, Assistant Project Officer, in co-ordination with the Development Alternatives which is a consultant non-governmental organisation in Bangalore.
The workshop was attended by Representatives and respective project officers of the five Southern settlements.
Following the workshop, project site visits and assessments in each of the five settlements were carried out by the project officers accompanied by the team from the consultant NGO.
