DHARAMSHALA: The Department of Education organised a workshop for the assistant professors at the Centre for Teacher Education (CTE) based at Bhuntar in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh from 23-25 July. Making education as one of its top priorities, the Central Tibetan Administration established CTE last year as part of its long-term vision to prepare competent and dedicated Tibetan teachers.
Dr. Mati Bernabei, a high school science teacher at Burnaby School District, Canada, and a member of the Tibetan Education Advisory Committee, conducted the three-day workshop.
“The workshop addressed issues pertaining to integrating theory and practice in teaching, understanding knowledge as design, concept attainment, formative assessment, action research, reflective practices, and also exposed assistant professors to various instructional strategies as well,” Kalsang Wangdu, an education officer at the education department, told Tibet.Net.
Centre for Teacher Education provides four-year integrated course in B.Sc./B.A. B.Ed. Currently, it has over 60 students and 11 assistant professors.
The education department is starting one-year B.Ed. programme there from fall this year.
