
Delhi: Bharat Tibbat Samanvaya Sangh, an Indian Tibet Support Group formed a few months ago convened a virtual meeting on 27 May. The meeting was called by Sh. Saurabh Saraswat, one of the key founding members of BTSS under the chair of Deputy President Sh. O P Tiwari, Air Vice-Marshal (Retd.).
In an important gesture, all the members of BTSS at the virtual session extended warm greetings to Penpa Tsering for being elected as the new Sikyong (President) of the Central Tibetan Administration and re-affirmed their commitment in carrying forward their activities and campaigns to support the speedy restoration of freedom in Tibet and end the injustices of the Chinese government. During the session, Sh. Saraswat laid down the importance of the organization and its objectives. He sought the permission of the Chair to introduce and pass the resolution to confer the honour of National President of BTSS to Smt. Gyan Sudha Misra, Former Judge of the Supreme Court of India and first lady Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court (Retd.). It was then followed by the introduction of Sh. Nilendra Kumar, Maj. General (Retd.) to assume the post of Deputy President of BTSS.
Smt. Gyan Sudha Misra asserted her faith in the values of Buddhism and truth that is well being represented by Tibetan people and its struggle. She reminiscence those days when she travelled through Rajgir while she was serving as the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court that how it enthralled her to do something for the sake of Tibetan people’s right of self-determination. While assuming the role of President of BTSS, she humbly submits her gratitude for having faith in her service that could be some help towards this cause.
Sh. Nilendra Kumar revisited his experience of first learning of Tibetan language from Thinlay Chokey Bhutia at National Defence Academy, Pune and all these years of his service for the nation in army uniform. He also expressed gratitude towards the members of BTSS for putting faith in him and he shall certainly redeem it in every possible manner in the days to come.
Amongst four National Secretaries, Sh. Rawal Harish Semwal, Gangotri, Uttarakhand; Sh. Madhwan, Andhra Pradesh and Rev. Sunil Kaushal, Vrindhawan, Uttar Pradesh joined the session. Among other attendees, Prof. Baldev Bhai Sharma, Former President of National Book Trust and presently Vice Chancellor of Kushabhau Thakre University of Mass Media and Public Broadcasting; Sh. Pushkar Singh Dhami, MLA, Uttarakhand; Shmt. Pooja Kapil Mishra, BJP Mahila Morcha; Sh.Vijay Bhaisla, Leader of Gujjar Community; Smt. Ruchi Chaturvedi, Poetess; Sh. Richpal Singh Kaviya, Democratic Freedom Fighter; Sh. Mahendra Kesari, Hyderabad; Smt. Shelja, Vijayanagaram, Andhra Pradesh; Sh.Vijaya Keval Ramani, Nagpur; Dr. Tsundu Dolma, Dharamshala, HP; Sh. Rigzin, Spiti, HP; Sh. Umakant Swami, Sh. Bavesh Bhai, Sanjay Tiwari Hindustani, Sh. Gaurav Sharma, News India, Gujarat. Shri Ram Pratap Chaubey, who had served as Tibetan Language Instructor at National Defence Academy was also in attendance. In addition to this, Sh. Sudesh Kumar Chandravanshi, Regional Convener (Bihar, Jharkhand and Chattisgarh) and Sh. Sandesh Meshram, Regional Convener (Maharashtra and Goa) of Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India had also attended the session.
As all the members spoke within their turns with two words, the Coordinator for ITCO also expressed gratitude for showing this support and extended greetings to Smt. Gyan Sudha Misra and Sh. Nilendra Kumar for assuming these portfolios.
Finally, the session was wrapped up by prayers of Gyatri Mantra presided by Rev. Sunil Kaushal.
