Australia (TibetNet): Addressing the House of Representatives on 27 February Mr. Michael Danby, MP of the Australia Labour Party and chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Tibet, said the Middle-Way Approach of His Holiness the Dalai Lama is a very moderate programme of reconciliation which seeks Tibetan cultural autonomy within the Chinese federation.
“China should very seriously consider the issue of the Tibetan people and giving them the cultural autonomy within the Chinese federation. The Tibetan proposal to the Chinese is a very moderate programme that could easily be granted without influencing the sovereignty of China”, he said.
He also mentioned about the letter from 37 Nobel laureates to President Hu Jintao organized by the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity, to support the autonomy for Tibet.
