
Canberra: A six-member parliamentary delegation comprising of members of parliament from Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji are visiting Dharamshala from 9 to 12 December 2025.
During their four-day visit, they will receive an audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and meet with the Tibetan leadership of Central Tibetan Administration, including Sikyong Penpa Tsering and Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament -in -Exile Khenpo Sonam Tenphel and will also visit various cultural and educational institutions based in Dharamshala.
On 10 December, they will join the special commemorative official function of the CTA marking the 36th anniversary of the conferment of the Nobel Peace Prize to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, along with the World Human Rights Day to express their solidarity and support for the freedom struggle of Tibetan people.
The visiting delegation comprises Australian Greens Senator Barbara Pocock who is also the Co-Chair of the Australian All Party Parliamentary Group for Tibet; Labor MP Sarah Witty; Independent MP Kate Chaney from Australia; Labor MP Duncan Webb; National Party MP Greg Fleming from New Zealand; and Independent MP Virendra Lal from Fiji.
Representative Karma Singey from Canberra based Tibet office and Dr. Zoe Bedford from Australia Tibet Council will accompany the delegation.
The parliamentary delegation will also be accompanied by a producer from ABC Australia to film the visit of the delegation as part of their making a documentary film about His Holiness the Dalai Lama for their episode of Compass programme. The documentary will be broadcast on His Holiness’s next birthday in July 2026.
