ATPD’s Ninth Session Begins Today
Dharamsala 15 March, 2005: The 13th Assembly of the Tibetan People’s Deputies began its ninth session this morning.

Chairman Pema Jungney, in his opening statement, urged the deputies to maintain proper parliamentary discipline in order to run the parliamentary proceedings smoothly and set a good example for the members of the local assemblies who will attend the entire session as observers. The members of the local assemblies have gathered here for a workshop on ‘grassroot democracy and strengthening local assemblies’ organised by the Delhi based Tibetan Parliamentary and Policy Research Centre.
A report on the budgetary review of exile Tibetan community was presented and read to the assembly by Kalon Lobsang Nyandak, Kalon for finance.
The session commenced with the singing of the Tibetan national anthem and offering of traditional sweetened rice (a symbolism for auspicious beginning)
The session will end on 28 March.
