Asia Pacific Tibet Support Groups’ Meet Concludes
Dharamsala 9 November: A meeting of the Tibet support groups in the Asia Pacific region has ended on 6 November. Representatives of the various Tibet support groups from Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Taiwan ROC, Hongkong and Australia attended the two-day meeting, which was held in Sydney from 5-6 November.
Representatives of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Taiwan ROC, Japan and Australia were also present at the meeting.
Organised by the Australia Tibet Committee in co-operation with the Office of Tibet, Australia, the meeting discussed the future plans and activities of the groups, shared ideas on various Tibet related issues, and exchanged views on organising Tibet awareness campaigns and programmes in their respective regions.
The participants resolved to work towards unconditional negotiations between Dharamsala and Beijing for a mutually agreeable solution to the issue of Tibet, to lobby for the release of Trulku Tenzin Delek who awaits in the death row of the Chinese government, and continuing their support for the Tibetan cause.
Representatives from the Tibetan communities in Australia and New Zealand also joined the meeting which was held for the first time.
