It is well known throughout the Tibetan community that after the unbearable change in Tibet political situation in 1959 that forced thousands of Tibetan to fled into exile, following His Holiness the Dalai Lama in India. There were many who also arrived in and around city of Dehradun in 1960s, amongst them were several Tibetan who didn’t join the mainstream Tibetan settlements and lived self sustaining lives as a scattered Tibetan community in the region in their rented houses. However in early 1980s, 270 families from those scattered population requested Central Tibetan Administration to provide them with the housing unit. At present 116 families from those 270 still continue to seek support for their housing rehabilitation. Although, over the years the Central Tibetan Administration has struggled to rehabilitate those families with the housing unit. The present Kashag following up with the endeavor decided to construct a housing unit for these 116 families without yielding to financial difficulties.
To meet this end, the Department of Home is re-screening the list of those 116 families and verify if those families fulfills the terms and conditions. After finalizing the selection of families, a meeting will be called with heads of families to discuss beneficiary contribute of 30% to 40% of the project cost. The meeting will be called at the end of November this year or in the first week of December 2017. Considering the circumstances meeting will be called on a very short notice and all beneficiaries are duly informed that failure to attend the meeting will disqualify them from availing housing facility, therefore everyone is requested to make sure to attend the meeting where and when called.
The Department of Home has so far through its internal verification has confirmed location of 103 families but there are 13 families whose whereabouts is still unknown. Below are the names of the heads of the families enlisted in our register. We request these families through this announcement to report themselves at Dekyiling Tibetan Settlement Office with their personal registration number before November 30, 2017.
