Amravati Kalachakra Opening Ceremony Held on 4 January

Dharamshala: His Holiness the Dalai Lama thanked the state government for their preparation and concern about the Kalachakra at the Amravati Kalachakra opening ceremony held on 4 January 2006. His Holiness was the chief guest at the ceremony.
Emphasising on inter-religious consideration and respect, His Holiness said that though there are many kinds of religions but it is common that every religion teaches the importance of human values.
Other dignitaries who spoke at the function were union minister for human resource and development, state finance minister, co-operative minister and tourism minister. They extended their warm welcome to His Holiness the Dalai Lama and said that it is their privilege to host the Kalachakra in the state.
The state government hopes to create awareness about the Buddhist heritage of Andhra Pradesh during the event.
On 5 January morning at 7:30 AM, His Holiness began the Kalachakra ritual preparation with the earth ritual prayers. His Holiness thanked the state government and its people, Norbulinka Institute and the Japan-based Busshokia Foundation for their well-organised preparations and facilities in the area.
His Holiness said that the Tibetans in Tibet and those others from Himalaya region and other countries who wish to attend the Kalachakra teachings but cannot make it can pray and recite the holy mantras from 12 to 15 January and he will pray for them.
He also said that the Andhra Pradesh joins Uttar Pradesh and Bihar because all these states are important Buddhist pilgrimage centres in India.
From tomorrow onwards the Kalachakra teachings on Nagarjuna’s fundamental wisdom will start. His Holiness will give teachings from 9 to 11:30 AM and from 1 to 4 PM.
