Milan: Amnesty
International (AI) in Italy has assured its full co-operation and
commitment in supporting the Tibetan people and the proposals of the
Central Tibetan Administration (CTA).Ms. Paola de Pirro, the
head of the China and Tibet section of AI Italy, expressed her support
during a meeting with the visiting deputy speaker of the Tibetan
Parliament in Exile, Mrs Dolma Gyari, at Gapheling, the Buddhist Centre
of Ven Thamthog Rinpoche in Milan, Italy, on 4 May.Deputy
Speaker Dolma Gyari gave a briefing on the present situation in Tibet
since March 2008. She said any support and action by Amnesty
International could be very helpful to the most important issues underlying the Tibetan issues.The
meeting was attended by Ms. Mariacristina Spinosa, member of the
Regional Council of Piemonte and chairwoman of the Union of Italian
Municipalities that joined together in support of Tibet.Prior
to her visit to Milan, the deputy speaker attended the conference on
“Promotion of Human Rights by EU Institutions’ at the European
Parliament in Brussels from 30 April – 3 May. She participated in the
conference at the invitation of Inter Parliamentary Group On Tibet,
Italy, Nonviolent Radical Party, Transnational and Transparty.Earlier
from 22 – 29 April, the deputy speaker joined the three-day biennial
conference on democracy in Turin, followed by visits to Sicily, Salemi
and Rome.
