Dharamshala: Additional Secretary Kunga Gyaltsen from the Department of Religion and Culture, Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), attended the event of honouring nuns who topped the examination of academic year 2023 with awards at Dolma Ling Nunnery and Institution on 28 March 2024.
Kyabje Dagri Rinpoche; Kasur (former Kalon) Rinchen Khando, Founding Director and Special Advisor of the Tibetan Nuns Project; former CTA Secretary Nangsa Choedon, Director of the Tibetan Nuns Project; and the Principal of Dolma Ling Nunnery and Institution also attended the event.
The event kicked off with an introduction of the nunnery’s history from its Principal, followed by presentation of awards to the recipients by guest members.
In his keynote address, special guest Dagri Rinpoche emphasised the need to incorporate studies into practices and shared his insights on the faults of Samsara, the merits of achieving Nirvana, and the significance of a compassionate mind.
Subsequently, Kasur Rinchen Khando stressed tutees in the gathering to exhibit diligence in their studies and put efforts in preservation of unique Tibetan heritages while Director Nangsa Choedon spoke about Tibetan Nuns Project.
The chief guest, Additional Secretary Kunga Gyaltsen, then spoke on the significance of the Tibetan language, the need to exert oneself in mastering four linguistic skills, and the necessity for monasteries to give special consideration when performing rituals upon request from grieving family members of the deceased.
The function concluded with a vote of thanks from Geshema Delek Dolma.
