
Kullu: From 30 to 31 October 2025, Additional Election Commissioner Nangsa Choedon and Secretary Lobsang Chodak conducted the second phase of a field tour to raise public awareness about the upcoming 2026 Sikyong and 18th Tibetan Parliamentary Elections. The visit aimed to ensure that the electoral process is carried out fairly and systematically across the Tibetan settlements in Kullu District, Himachal Pradesh.
With coordination and arrangements made by the Kullu Palrabling Regional Election Office, Additional Election Commissioner Nangsa Choedon convened members of the Palrabling Tibetan Settlement at Dobhi and Patlikuhal Tibetan Colony for an awareness session on 30 October at the Palrabling community hall.
Later that day, at the Von Ngari Monastery, a similar session was organised for residents of Manali Tibetan Camp 3, 15 Mile Tibetan Colony, teachers and staff of the Sambhota Tibetan Day School, and monks from local monasteries.
The following day, another meeting was held at Bhuntar Phuntsok Rabtenling Tibetan Settlement for Tibetans residing in Bhuntar, Kullu Youlokoe Tibetan Colony, and nearby monasteries in the Kullu District.
During these meetings, the public was briefed on the evolution of Tibetan democracy in exile and the importance of active participation in the upcoming general elections. The sessions also covered key aspects of the electoral process, including voter registration procedures, voting methods and secrecy, invalid ballots, and penalties for electoral interference.
The Additional Election Commissioner further outlined the preliminary and main election dates for both the Sikyong and Tibetan Parliamentary elections, along with essential guidelines for the process. Questions raised by local community members regarding the electoral system were also addressed and clarified.
The sessions were attended by Secretary Lobsang Choedak of the Central Election Commission and Tenzin Tsultrim, the Chief Local Election Officer of Kullu Palrabling.
