Until the appointment of a new director, Dr Rakesh Sharma will serve as the acting director of CTSA, in addition to his present obligations as the joint commissioner of the Jawahar Navodhya Vidyalaya Sanghathan, an autonomous body, like CTSA, under the Indian Ministry of Human Resource Development.
“Dr Sharma has had quite an experience of past acquaintance with the Tibetan administration,” said Education Officer Tsering Phuntsok, adding that “he will soon call upon various dignitaries of our administration here.”
“Many in our administration already know him quite well, as until 2001, he was deputed here as the district forest officer of Kangra, by the state government.” During the seven years of his tenure here, he passed many landmark projects, including cleaning up of the Dal Lake near the (upper) Tibetan Children’s Village School, construction of the large sanitation complex near the Tsug-la Khang, the main temple, and others.
